AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE DAY
Congress debated and revised the wording of the declaration, finally approving it on the next day 4th of July. From the outset American celebrated independence on July 4th rather than on July 2nd, Adams’s prediction was off by 2 days, the date shown on the much-publicized declaration of independence, the date of the resolution of independence was approved in a closed session of congress.
But historians have different assumptions like – whether members of congress signed the declaration of independence on July 4th, even though Thomas Jefferson , John Adams and Benjamin Franklin all later wrote that they had signed it on that day. Other historians have concluded that the declaration was signed nearly a month after its adoption on 2nd august 1776 and not on July 4th as is commonly believed.
Coincidentally , both Thomas Jefferson and John Adams , the only signers of the declaration , served as presidents of USA , died on the same day July 4th 1826, which was the 50th anniversary of the declaration. Also James Monroe died on July 4th 1831, another founding father who was elected as president. He was the third president who was died on the anniversary of independence. But Mr. Calvin Coolidge, the 30th president was born on July 4th, 1872. So far he is the only president to have been born on Independence day .
